Automating Moments That Matter
What Is a Custom Tag?
Custom tags are dynamic, automation-driven labels built in Workflows.
They identify:
- Behavioral changes
- Trigger events
- Time-based activity
- Signal-based opportunities
These run continuously through our workflows feature.
Why Custom Tags Matter
Custom tags allow you to operationalize things like:
- Job changes
- Tech stack additions
- Competitors
- Partners
- Product adoption moments
Instead of manually monitoring signals, your team gets structured intelligence.
This reduces:
- Manual searching
- Missed opportunities
- Reactive outreach
And increases:
- Speed to lead
- Trigger-based engagement
- Proactive GTM execution
Example: Tagging Recent Job Changers
Let’s walk through a real use case.
Use Case:
Identify contacts who changed jobs in the last 12 weeks.
Why this matters:
- New leaders bring new budgets
- New hires re-evaluate tools
- Fresh org structures create opportunity
Step 1: Navigate to Workflows
- Open the sidebar
- Click the lightning bolt icon (Workflows)
- Select “View All Templates”
Step 2: Select Template
Choose:
Tag Contacts
Click “Create.”
This template runs multiple times per day automatically.
Step 3: Add Filter Criteria
Add filter:
- Job Change
- Timeframe: Last 12 weeks
You are defining the moment that matters.
Step 4: Apply or Create Tag
- Search existing tags
OR - Create new tag (e.g., “Recent Job Changer”)
Step 5: Name + Activate
- Name your workflow clearly
Example: Tag Contact – Job Change (12 Weeks) - Save
- Activate
The workflow now runs continuously in the background.
No manual intervention required.
🧠 Custom Tag Strategy Ideas
Once you understand this structure, you can build:
- “Competitors” tag
- “New Executive at ICP” tag
- “Tech Stack Change” tag
- “Partner” tag
Every custom tag should answer:
