Bulk messaging: Start the conversation right from Common Room

We know it can be hard to effectively engage your community as it grows. Last week, we released Common Room Workflows to help community leaders use the power of automation to build a holistic member journey—just set up a workflow, and we’ll take care of the rest.

But, just as we said in that release, not all member engagement can be planned in advance. Some engagement is ad hoc, based on unique circumstances or specific initiatives. That’s why we built bulk messaging.

Bulk messaging is a lightweight way to send direct messages to your community members via Slack. With Common Room, community leaders already have context and insight on their members like never before. Now, once you find that cohort you're looking for, you can easily send a personal direct message. Just select members from any member table—such as the member explorer or a segment—or you can message a user directly from their member profile.

Here are a few ways you can get started with bulk messaging:

• 💻 Recruit beta testers based on users who have asked about an upcoming piece of functionality
• 📣 Build a speaker bench for your upcoming event
• 👋 Check-in with members who reported bugs to make sure their issue was resolved
• 🎟️ Invite users to an upcoming event in their area
