  • What the Common Room Connector is
  • What the Common Room Claude Plugin is
  • How to install them
  • How to use them
  • Example workflows

Overview

Common Room integrates with Claude in two ways:

  • Connector — MCP integration available for general-purpose use
  • Claude Plugin — Specialized Plugin with specific skills and commands optimized for Sales workflows with Common Room

These can be used independently or together. Both support querying and updating your Common Room workspace — you can research accounts, log activities, create contacts, update segments, and more from natural language inside Claude.

Claude Connector

What It Is

The Common Room Connector securely connects your Common Room workspace to Claude.

It enables Claude to access unified buyer intelligence from Common Room using enterprise authentication (SSO/SAML), and to create and update records in your workspace on your behalf.

This integration makes Common Room data available to Claude for analysis, reasoning, and write-back as a general-purpose MCP.

What Claude Can Do With Common Room

When the Claude Connector is enabled, Claude can:

Read:

  • Account-level signals
  • Contact-level signals
  • Identity-resolved buyer profiles
  • CRM data synced into Common Room
  • Enrichment data
  • Product usage signals
  • Engagement history
  • Continuously updated account context

Write:

  • Create new contacts and organizations (with upsert semantics — duplicates are merged into existing records)
  • Convert Common Room Prospector results into permanent contact or organization records
  • Create new static segments scoped to contacts or organizations
  • Add contacts or organizations to existing segments
  • Log activities on a contact's timeline (e.g., demos, outreach, research)
  • Attach notes to contact profiles
  • Update fields on existing contacts and organizations, including custom fields

All write operations respect your user's OAuth permissions — Claude can only modify data your Common Room account already has access to.

How to Use the Integration

Below are example workflows demonstrating how the Plugin and Connector operate inside Claude.

Use the Claude + Common Room Plugin for Call Prep

The Claude + Common Room Plugin lets you generate account and contact research directly inside Claude using your Common Room data, and log follow-up activities once the call is done.

Before You Start

  • Ensure the Common Room Plugin is enabled in Claude
  • Confirm your calendar is connected to Claude

Generate Call Prep

1. Open Claude. Start a new chat.

2. Select the Common Room Plugin. Choose Common Room from the Plugin options.

3. Choose a pre-built prompt. Select Call Prep (or enter a custom prompt).

Example: "I have a call with Aeroolex later today. Prepare call research."

4. Submit the prompt. Claude will automatically:

  • Review your calendar invite
  • Identify meeting attendees
  • Match contacts in Common Room
  • Pull relevant account signals and activity

Review the Output

Claude generates a structured brief that includes:

  • Account overview
  • Key stakeholders
  • Recent engagement and signals
  • Relevant context for your meeting

You can copy or share this summary with teammates as needed.

Log Follow-Ups After the Call (Optional)

Once the meeting is done, ask Claude to log activities and notes for the attendees:

Example: "Log a demo activity on each Aeroolex attendee. Note: walked through the API integration; they're evaluating us against Datadog; follow up in two weeks with pricing."

Claude will record a timestamped activity on each contact's timeline and attach the note to their profile — no manual CRM entry required.

Use the Claude + Common Room Plugin Skill for Account Research

Generate Account Research

1. Open Claude. Start a new chat.

2. Select the Common Room Plugin. Type / and select Common Room from the Plugin options.

3. Choose "Account Research". Select the pre-built Account Research prompt (or enter a custom prompt).

Example: "Please research Verifone and identify key people I should reach out to."

4. Submit the prompt. Claude will:

  • Pull account data from Common Room
  • Surface relevant signals and activity
  • Identify key stakeholders
  • Recommend outreach targets

Review the Output

Claude generates:

  • Account overview
  • Relevant engagement signals
  • Key contacts to prioritize
  • Suggested next steps for outreach

This eliminates the need for manual research across systems and provides direction before initiating contact.

Convert Prospector Results Into Contacts (Optional)

If the people Claude identifies aren't yet in Common Room, you can convert them directly:

Example: "Add the top 3 contacts you found to Common Room and put them in a new segment called 'Verifone Outreach Q3'."

Claude will create contact records from the Prospector data (auto-populating name, title, company, and social profiles), create the segment, and add the new contacts to it.

  • Review your connected calendar
  • Identify meetings for the selected timeframe

  • Generate summaries and talking points for each meeting

Review the Output

Claude provides:

  • A daily breakdown of upcoming meetings
  • Account overviews for each meeting
  • Key stakeholders
  • Relevant engagement signals
  • Suggested talking points

You can copy or share this summary with teammates joining the calls.

This workflow streamlines weekly prep and ensures you show up to every meeting with context powered by Common Room data.

Use the Claude + Common Room Plugin for Prospecting and List Building

You can use Claude to find net-new accounts and contacts that match your ICP, then create them as records in Common Room — all in one conversation.

Build a Target List

1. Open Claude. Start a new chat with the Common Room Plugin enabled.

2. Describe your ICP.

Example: "Find Series B fintech companies in NYC with 50–200 employees that aren't already in Common Room. Add the top 10 as organizations and create a segment called 'NYC Fintech Outreach Q3' containing them."

3. Submit the prompt. Claude will:

  • Search Common Room Prospector for matching companies
  • Compare results against your existing Common Room data
  • Create new organization records for the top matches (auto-populating firmographic data)
  • Create the segment and add the new organizations to it

Review the Output

Claude returns a summary of:

  • The companies it found
  • Which were added to Common Room (and which already existed)
  • The new segment with its membership

You can then jump into outreach drafting or account briefs for any of the new records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this replace Common Room?

No. Claude becomes an interface for analysis and workflow execution. Common Room remains the source of unified buyer intelligence.

Is enterprise authentication required?

  • Yes, the authentication setup for your Common Room instance (SSO/SAML) is required to use the Connector.
  • A Common Room license/seat is required for the user.

Does the Connector support creating and editing records?

Yes. Both the Connector and the Plugin support creating and updating records in Common Room. You can:

  • Create new contacts, organizations, segments, activities, and notes
  • Update existing contacts and organizations (including custom fields)
  • Add records to segments
  • Convert Common Room Prospector results into permanent contact or organization records

Contact and organization creation use upsert semantics — if a matching record already exists (matched by email, LinkedIn URL, or domain), the existing record is updated rather than creating a duplicate.

All write operations respect your user's OAuth permissions. Claude can only modify data your Common Room account already has access to. See the Common Room MCP Server documentation for the full reference, including the field-level details for each object type.
